Sempervirens Fund

The Sempervirens Fund is a land trust that works to protect and preserve redwood forests in California. 

The Sempervirens Fund was founded in 1900 by John C. Merriam, a professor of zoology at Stanford University, and his wife Elizabeth Merriam, who were concerned about the loss of old-growth redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The couple worked with Andrew P. Hill, the founder of the Save the Redwoods League, to purchase lands that would become Big Basin Redwoods State Park, the first state park in California.

Shoup Park

The city of Los Angeles’ Shoup Park is a public park. The park is located in Woodland Hills, at the junction of Shoup Avenue and Ventura Boulevard, and was named after William R.
